Veneers are wafer thin shells of tooth colored material, usually porcelain, ceramic or composite, that are “cemented” to the front surface of teeth to improve their cosmetic appearance. Veneers are typically used to cover stained, misaligned or chipped and broken teeth. Veneers are of various types such as porcelain or composite veneers, and the dentist will advise one on the best-suited choice for best results.
Porcelain veneers are stronger and more resilient, offer a natural transluscent tooth-like appearance, and are more resistant to staining.
This procedure involves creation of the teeth impression by the dentist to determine size and shape. After conception of the mould, the dentist then carefully places the veneer for the patient.
Patients can have their veneers done in two visits, in the first, the tooth is prepared and impressions taken and it is fitted during the second visit. Some Surrey cosmetic dentists with in-house Ceramic studios (CEREC) provide one hour on-site veneers production.
